Maintenance Engineer II Full-Time $27.21/ Hour Montana Technological University provides a comprehensive benefits package for all eligible positions that includes health, dental and vision insurance, mandatory retirement plan with employer contribution, partial tuition waiver, and a wellness program. Duties Trouble-shooting of electrical components of large refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Must be able to read blue prints and interpret electrical schematics, control schematics and mechanical drawings. Must be able to repair and maintain chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps and heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration equipment. (HVACR) Maintain, repair, replace, relocate, remove, restore all HVAC systems to include motors, controls, coils, lubrication, filters, belts, and all controls and wiring. Interpret and apply blue print specifications, building control diagrams/software and maintenance manuals. Maintains systems according to established maintenance schedules and appropriate maintenance functions as indicated by the manufacturer’s specification, Department guidelines and good trade practices to minimize breakdowns and other interruptions in service Performs journey level work installing, modifying maintaining, repairing and overhauling of heating equipment, boilers, hydronic systems, pumps and building controls. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, motors, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Connect wires to control panels, circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Startup maintenance and shut down of all cooling towers and systems. Responding to and maintenance of fire alarm systems. This position also covers operation of Heating Plant as needed. Ability to read and interpret blue prints, specifications, control diagrams and maintenance manuals. Establishes and maintains a positive and cooperative working relationship with members of the Department and Campus community. Responsible for adhering to policies, procedures and practices on safety and operational instructions. Complies with rules and regulations applicable to building codes. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building system controls. Must have a 3rd Class boilers license OR Must obtain a 3rd class boilers license within one year. Possess good oral and written communication skills. Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Preferred Qualifications: License, certification or education in any of the following: Cooling, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation, electrical, plumbing, building systems is highly preferred (submit copies with application). Experience in troubleshooting, repairing and maintenance of Cooling and refrigeration systems Building automation systems Heating and ventilation systems Electrical including interior and exterior lighting systems. Plumbing systems Building systems Experience with fire alarm systems Proficiency with Microsoft or other computer programs Physical Demands Lifting: Floor to 30 inches, up to 50#. Floor to 60 inches, up to 50#. Floor to overhead, up to 50# sustained, with both hands. Carrying: 2 handed front, carry up to 35# for 50 feet. Pushing and pulling forces required for necessary tools and equipment related to the duties listed above. Pushing and pulling forces required (handling, pushing, and pulling classroom and office furniture, file cabinets, and equipment): 30# sustained at waist level (60# optional) Static trunk forward bending and twisting from a standing, crouching or kneeling position while using tools. Reaching with your arms in all directions, including overhead with 5# in both hands, sustained. Working overhead from various positions (standing, squatting, and kneeling). Balancing when climbing and working on a ladder. Use of various handgrip circumferences and firm handgrip positions while manipulating various tools and equipment (maximum 50#). WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level is usually moderate to loud. Exposure to any number of elements but none present to the extent of being disagreeable. Maybe required to work in conditions including cold, heat, temperature swings, noise, outdoors and indoors, around mechanical, electrical, fume/odor, dust/mites, chemical and toxic waste hazards. May be required to work in locations that involve hazardous environments requiring protective equipment that conforms to OSHA regulations and some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust and noise.
