About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Software Engineering to lead our software engineering teams and drive excellence in program management, processes, and tools. As a key member of our leadership, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technical strategy, fostering innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products. Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Manage and mentor multiple engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture. Provide strategic direction, set clear goals, and empower team members to achieve their full potential. Drive recruitment efforts to attract top engineering talent. Technical Excellence: Define and communicate the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for our software products. Evaluate build vs. buy decisions, ensuring optimal technical solutions. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. Engineering Excellence: Oversee the program management team and ensure execution of complex projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Customers) to drive successful delivery of products and services. Champion agile methodologies and continuous improvement, fostering a culture of quality, reliability, and efficiency. Lead initiatives to enhance engineering efficiency and quality through processes, tools, and best practices. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees are a plus. Experience: Minimum of 15 years in software development, including at least 5 years in leadership roles including leadership roles Proven track record of successfully managing and scaling engineering teams. Experience managing large projects, working cross-functionally with internal teams and customers. Experience building software products that interface with hardware. Skills: Proficiency in software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.). Strong team management and performance evaluation skills. Experience with object-oriented programming languages and relational (SQL) database. Knowledge of transport protocols (e.g., SFTP, HTTPS) and networking technologies. Web technologies expertise (JavaScript, CSS, HTML5). Cloud environment experience (Docker, Kubernetes, microservices). Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in hiring and scaling engineering teams. Background in building IoT, Device management applications and/or applications for the transportation industry.
